The Brian Wilson Band: Tour 2009

The best touring band, period.

- Sir Paul McCartney, of the Brian Wilson Band.

The glowing testament above comes from no other than the famous ex-Beatle Paul McCartney, and when you buy Brian Wilson tickets to see them live, you’ll see why; this is a community of accomplished musicians who have a mood and a sound in common, while remaining very much individuals in their own right.

From the fresh open spaces of “Tangle Free World, by Amy Celsi, to inspired drummer Nelson Bragg, who moved to LA from New England to bring his tight percussion to the Brian Wilson sound. Nelson’s experience playing the scores for musicals at The New London Barn Playhouse in New Hampshire stood him in good stead to provide the rhythmic backbone for the visions of Wilson, whose songs often feel more like paintings or movies than a simple aural experience.

Another of Brian’s band who always deserves a mention is Jeff Foskett. Jeff is one of the few vocalists alive who can virtually match Wilson’s falsetto while also playing a guitar in the style of Brian’s brother Carl. A universally talented popster, Jeff’s voice and mellow riffs are indistinguishable from the Wilson brothers’. As a result he has been associated with the Beach Boys for over a quarter century.

Another notable is Nicky Walusko, a guy who literally grew up in the heart of Wilson’s surfer world back in the mid-60s. Walusko, together with Darian Sahanaja (a native of Indonesia) would bring an edgy pop-jazz feel to the Wilson Band and finish Brian’s masterwork, “Smile”, which they have played live on many occasions.

And there are others, more musical prodigies who Brian is proud to call his band, and who so impressed Paul McCartney. Among them are golden tenor multi-instrumentalist Scott Bennett; Taylor Mills – whose singing has been described as “like an angel” by Wilson – and who has traveled with Brian around Europe; Chicago composer Paul Mertens, a man with an impressive record of having performed with some of the very biggest names in Rock, including McCartney, Elton John and Eric Clapton; Probyn Gregory, a nature-loving LA-based composer and multi-instrumental vocalist who has also worked with some of the hugest Rock stars, as well as west coast psychedelic idols Arthur Lee and Love.

The list goes on, and includes names like The Wondermints, Todd Sucherman, Mike D’Amico and Brett Simons, each and every one of them a brilliant performer and perfectly suited to be playing the music of Brian Wilson. There is also the Stockholm Strings ‘n Horns, a band that played on the SMiLE experience, and is based in Sweden.

This eclectic bunch, plus a few others, make up the touring sensation that is the Brian Wilson band. Come with us to buy your Brian Wilson tickets and soak up the scintillating sounds of these pop-rock luminaries. You will be bowled over by the harmonies, knocked out by the guitar breaks, and completely fall in love with the drums. This is no average band – this is the Brian Wilson Band.
